About the event

Yoga, an ancient philosophy, and practice that originated in India, has been a health and wellbeing system for thousands of years. Its rich approach, combined with its simplicity in implementation, has sustained its role in nourishing people for generations.

One of the key advantages of a system like Yoga is that it views the human system as a holistic entity and approaches health and wellbeing from this perspective. Therefore, it offers so many tools in the healing process that address the holistic human system.

Though Yoga is associated mainly with postures, it is just one of the many tools Yoga offers. Some of the most profound tools in Yoga include conscious breathing regulation, meditation, lifestyle changes, visualizations, use of sound and dietary specifications, among many others. This makes the healing process very comprehensive and extremely specific to the individual.

The other key advantage of Yoga is that it empowers people in the healing process. Rather than being a passive treatment recipient, the student is actively engaged in the path to wellbeing and is primarily responsible for their recovery. The role of the teacher is more that of a guide, directing the student to the tools for healing, and teaching the right way to implement them. Once this is done, it is then up to the student to practice diligently, observe and notify the teacher of any changes. Thus, the healing comes from within the student rather than from the outside.

This incredible art was perfected and presented by T Krishnamacharya, one of the most influential yogis of our modern times. Through this holistic yet simple approach, he healed and revived many people from all kinds of problems. This approach was taken globally by his son TKV Desikachar and his grandson Kausthub Desikachar.

This seminar will present the essential principles of the holistic approach of Yoga as a complementary health and wellbeing system. It will also offer experiential practices from which participants can benefit.

The seminar costs £240 and is open to all. However, places are limited, so early booking is advised. To book, for the seminar, please email Kim Mackie kim_mackie@mac.com For an individual session, please email Sarah Ryan (saryan6630@gmail.com), including your full name and phone number.
